So I'd say go with a 2080 or even 1080ti if you can find a deal. I have a 1080 ti also and in most single player games everything in ultra I get around120 - 130. Well, as long as you don't care about frames. I usually get around 120 - 130 fps with everything maxed out at 1440p. Anthem won't do 100fps ultra on a 2080. But when playing games like roe, pubg and other multiplayer games yo get stuck at 110 - 100 most of the time and if you are using a 1440p 144hz monitor and you are used to 144hz you definitly can feel the downgrade of 44 less fps. (Had 1070 and 4670k). I use a 2080 at 3440x1440 and I'll never play a game with dips below 100, but I'm fine with dropping settings to do so. But you can always lower graphics a bit. you are right it this cards run good for 1440p but the question is how smooth is your gameplay in terms of fps.
